How You Can Help

As a volunteer, you’ll play a vital role in creating a safe, nurturing space for our rescues.

Volunteer at one of our fundraising events or one of our community outreach events where we go into the community and teach people how to heal and love each other through the connection of nature and animals.

Volunteers must sign up in advance, as we schedule specific volunteer days throughout the year. When new volunteer opportunities become available, you’ll receive an email notification with details on how to participate.

Liability Waiver

This Liability Release and Waiver Agreement (“Agreement”) is entered into by and between Participant as listed above and Dog Heaven, LLC, including its program known as The Underdog Program, and its owners, operators, agents, representatives, employees, volunteers, and affiliates, including Nita Godwin and Dustin Jennings (collectively referred to as “Released Parties”).

1. Acknowledgment of Risk
Participant understands and acknowledges that activities involving dogs, including but not limited to handling, walking, training, transporting, and interacting with dogs—especially those that may be rescued, rehabilitating, or previously abused—carry inherent risks.

These risks include, but are not limited to:
  • Dog bites, scratches, or attacks
  • Falls, trips, or other physical injuries
  • Exposure to illness, parasites, or zoonotic diseases
  • Emotional or psychological stress
  • Property damage
Participant voluntarily assumes all risks, known or unknown, associated with participation.

2. Release of Liability

Participant hereby releases, waives, discharges, and covenants not to sue Dog Heaven, LLC, The Underdog Program, Nita Godwin, Dustin Godwin, and all Released Parties from any and all liability, claims, demands, actions, or causes of action arising out of or related to:

  • Personal injury
  • Illness or disease
  • Property damage
  • Death

This release applies whether caused by negligence or otherwise, to the fullest extent permitted by law.

3. Indemnification

Participant agrees to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless the Released Parties from any claims, damages, costs, or expenses (including attorney’s fees) arising out of Participant’s involvement, including any injury or damage caused by Participant to others or to animals.

4. Medical Treatment Authorization

Participant authorizes Dog Heaven, LLC and its representatives to obtain emergency medical treatment if necessary. Participant agrees to be financially responsible for any medical care received.

5. Fitness to Participate

Participant affirms they are physically and mentally capable of participating and have no conditions that would increase risk. Participant agrees to follow all safety rules, instructions, and protocols.

6. No Guarantees

Participant understands that working with rescue animals is unpredictable and that no guarantees are made regarding behavior, safety, or outcomes.

7. Photo & Media Release (Optional but Recommended)

Participant grants permission for Dog Heaven, LLC to use photos or videos taken during participation for marketing, social media, and promotional purposes without compensation.

8. Governing Law

This Agreement shall be governed by and interpreted in accordance with the laws of the State of Colorado.

9. Severability

If any portion of this Agreement is found to be invalid, the remaining provisions shall remain in full force and effect.

10. Acknowledgment & Signature

Participant acknowledges they have read this Agreement, fully understand its terms, and sign it voluntarily. Participant understands they are giving up substantial legal rights, including the right to sue.
